An unexplained horror occurs in a Japanese forest.
I know of that forest in Japan. They nick named it Suicide Forest. The movie is based on fact, but I don't see hiw they filmed the movie at the Forest without getting killed themselves. It's not just Japan's Forests. It happens in North America too! People disappeared mysteriously or found dead unnaturally.
Yet another horror movie that left me with mixed feelings. Downside: It barely touches on the actually lore and history of the forest and only show small parts of what people actual do when going there to commit suicide. And the biggest annoyance for me where the ghosts. They looked more like cheesy america zombie/ghost/demon thing we've come to expect from american horror, rather than the japanese style we've come to truly fear thanks to movies like The Grudge and the Ring. A real disappointment given this movie takes place in the most haunted place in JAPAN. I'm also sorry that because this movie was made, it's highly unlikely we will get any decent horror movie about the Aokigahara Forest anytime soon.
Upside: The movie had good acting, and a decent story. It had both it's scary moments as well as a couple of pretty good mind fucks. It will also spark your interest in the Forest itself if you haven't already looked into it.
